Why apply to your university?

At Chalmers University of Technology you’ll learn to think independently, and to meet future challenges with the help of engineering methods. We emphasise your creativity and believe in the necessity of free thinking, so that you can be sure that you are able to test your own ideas for real. To facilitate an open environment and a close cooperation between students and teachers we pursue a truly informal atmosphere.

How do you receive international students?

Our Student union is very strong at our university and Chalmers International Committee organize a lot of fun, interesting and interactive activities for new students. We think that it is important that current students at Chalmers are welcoming new students. We offer all kind of clubs and activities (sports, choirs, culture clubs, sauna, Welcome week, trip to the north of Sweden etc.)

Accommodation and cost of living

Sweden is quite expensive (nearly the same level as in Norway). Students coming to Chalmers from Europe do not have housing guarantee. It can be a little bit tricky to find an apartment or a room but in the end all of the students find housing.

What are your strongest subject areas?

We have established a unique concept of Areas of Advance, which involves an ever-changing, ongoing exchange of expertise across disciplines, between students and teachers, and alongside partners from industry and society – beneficial to all. Our Areas of Advance are Energy, Health engineering, Information and communication technology, Materials science, Production and Transport.
